Most organisations rely on their networks, and as such adopt policies for network users to abide by so that the integrity and reliability of the network can be maintained. Usually, there will be sanctions in place for any breach of network policy.

Most typically, an organisation will have an Acceptable Usage Policy in which users are required to sign an agreement stating that they will adhere to the rules set out by the network administrator.
